A Journey Marked by Courage and Strength
Earlier this year, Joules was diagnosed with DIPG, an incurable brain tumor that tragically affects children. Doctors gave her only nine months to live, marking the start of an emotional and challenging journey for the Smith family. Despite her terminal diagnosis, Joules continued to spread joy through TikTok, where her dances and bright personality captured the hearts of millions.

Her father, Joe, initially shared her diagnosis on TikTok, explaining that Joules had started showing unusual symptoms that led to the discovery of a tumor. Tests at King’s College Hospital in London confirmed the devastating diagnosis. Joe tearfully shared, “She will start to deteriorate, and we have got to sit back and watch our beautiful, funny little girl fade away.”
Joules’ Impact on TikTok and Beyond
Throughout her illness, Joules inspired countless people online. Her story sparked the viral TikTok trend, “Dancing for Joules,” which helped raise awareness about childhood cancer. Joe encouraged fans to keep the trend alive, saying, “Let’s carry on dancing for our beautiful little Joules because I know she would still be dancing.” Even in her final months, Joules brought hope and joy to those who followed her story.
Support From the Community
After Joules’ diagnosis, family friend Kirk Norcross started a GoFundMe page to help the Smith family focus on creating meaningful memories with their daughter. The fundraiser raised over $120,000, allowing the family to prioritize Joules’ care without financial worry. Joe and Elisha expressed immense gratitude to everyone who contributed, noting that the funds made it possible to give Joules the best life they could during her remaining months.
